Okay so just a pre-emptive warning for all you readers out there... This caramel sauce is literally addictive. Your lives will never be the same after trying it, I double pinky promise. That being said, you're probably like 'oh caramel sauce... creating such gooey, sticky deliciousness must be a tough process!' - I'm happy to tell you that you are totally and completely wrong! This simple sauce recipe can literally be whipped up in mere seconds for instant enjoyment. You can also add a sprinkling of pink sea salt at the end of this recipe for a salted caramel style sauce.
Raw Caramel Sauce drizzled over Banoffee Oatmeal
So, what you need:
- 1/2 cup pitted medjool dates, soaked in warm water until nice and squishy
- warm water
That's literally all!
what to do:
- Firstly, soak the medjool dates until they are nice and squishy.
- Drain the dates from the liquid they were soaking in.
- Mash the dates up until they form a bit of a combined glob, then add in warm water in small increments (start with about 2 tsp) and stir thoroughly. Continue this until the dates dissolve and your sauce reaches your desired consistency.
- Allow to cool then devour with anything (fresh fruit works well), or do as I do sometimes, and merely grab a spoon and tuck in!
Note: for a more 'dip' like caramel sauce, add less water. For a more 'drizzle-able' caramel sauce, add more water. It could truly not be any simpler!
